Hi, I'm Carl. I use machine learning to build products that solve tough problems at Amazon. I have 8 years experience launching tech products - 4 in the tech industry and 4 in management/IT consulting. I love to learn new things and have studied at UCLA, London School of Economics, McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas, Copenhagen Business School, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. When not working, I'm either outside (hiking, snowboarding, paddleboarding, etc.), at an alternative rock concert, or on a plane headed somewhere new.
Everyone knows the Amazon order experience. I use ML to build classification, nearest-neighbor, and optical character recognition (OCR) models to capture product information and make sure you receive authentic products in the condition you expect.
I worked on a stealth team to launch Amazon Key, an app-based service that enables you to receive Amazon deliveries the trunk of your car, no matter where it's parked. While launching phase 1, I also conducted user research to validate phase 2 concepts and wrote the business plan, revenue forecast, and tech design.
I specialized in post-merger integration for Fortune-500 companies in the tech industry. In that capacity, I led large, global teams through system migrations and org design changes, collectively saving my clients hundreds of millions of dollars.
I got my start at Hitachi Consulting (now known as Hitachi Vantara), an IT consultancy specializing in digital transformation. There, I shipped cutting edge products like a sales portal for a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle and a cloud-based intranet for a global company.
